Colombia delivers KO and Dominican Republic sits on top of the standings

(Press Release; WBSC-AMERICAS).- Colombia beat Venezula by KO, while Dominican Republic had no problem with Peru, at the beginning of the second half of the tournament calendar.

The Dominica Republic had no problem beating Peru by 7-1 score, Omarly Luna picked up the win by pitching 5.0 innings with a hit and nine strikeouts for the Caribbean team.

Offensively Stanley Javier went 3-4 with a homerun, a run scored and two driven in, Josuel Chalas went 1-4 with two runs batted in and Darlin German went 2-3 with a run and one driven in.

Meanwhile Colombia took care of Venezuela in six innings by winning via KO 10-0, scoring three in the second, four in the fourth and three more in the sixth. Yeizer Marrugo was dominant allowing only two hits in five innings, striking out one for the victory

On the offensive side Jonathan Lozada went 2-4 with a run scored and four driven in, Rafael Romero went 2-4 with two runs and one RBI. Finally Edilberto Mendoza hit 1-3 with two runs and one driven in.

The Caribbean nation stays on top of the standings with 3-1, Colombia now is 2-1, Venezuela dropped to 1-2 and Peru now sits at 1-3.

On sunday the Dominican Republic will play Venezuela, while Peru will duel with Colombia. For Venezuela and Colombia, it will be the start of the second half of the tournament calendar.
