(Nota de prensa; WBSC-AMÉRICAS).- El clasificatorio llega este sábado a su jornada final con los cruces decididos, Nicaragua será homeclub ante Honduras buscando la campeonato y el pase a los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe. Mientras que Costa Rica recibe a Guatemala por la medalla de bronce.

(Press release; WBSC-AMERICAS).- The qualifier reaches its final day this Saturday with the match ups decided, Nicaragua will be home club against Honduras seeking the championship and the qualification to the Central American and Caribbean Games. While Costa Rica receives Guatemala for the bronze medal.

The host of the tournament secured their pass with a resounding 21-0 victory over Guatemala, while Honduras closed their Opening Round phase by beating El Salvador 8-4.

Honduras took an early 4-1 lead in the third inning, El Salvador managed to tie it in the top of the seventh, but their rivals responded with four in the next two innings to win the game 8-4.

For Honduras, Maycol Escobar went 2-for-four with two runs scored, Kevin Reyes went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs and Lombardo Padilla went 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs.

In the other game, Nicaragua defeated Guatemala 21-0 by shoutout and pounding them in seven innings, scoring eight in the fifth and finishing off with seven in the seventh with fifteen connected hits.

Isaac Bernard went 1-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs, while Juan Montes went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Other highlights were Elian Miranda who went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs, as well as Benjamín Alegria who went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

With these results, the final games of the qualifying tournament are set, Costa Rica will be home club against Guatemala for the bronze medal, while Honduras will play against the host Nicaragua looking for the championship and the trip to the Central American and Caribbean Games.
