Japan repeats as Women’s Baseball World Champion
Edmonton (Canada). Japan has won the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup in Edmonton, Canada. They shut out Team USA 3-0 in the Gold Medal Game on Sunday evening at Telus Field. It is their third straight title. The United States had won twice in tournament history.
15U BWC: Chinese Taipei upsets Mexico
The fans of host Mexico went home disappointed on Sunday evening at Chihuahua stadium. The I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship had their first big upset, when Chinese Taipei erased a 0-4 deficit en route to a 6-4 victory. It was their third straight win in the tournament, which sets them up to win Group A.
15U BWC: Cuba beats Argentina, Rain in Parral
Cuba concluded their first round schedule at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship in Mexico with a perfect 4-0 record. On Sunday evening they defeated Argentina 7-1 in a rain-shortened game. It was the second match for both teams on the day, as they had to make up their postponement from Saturday. Argentina dropped to 2-1 with their first loss in the tournament.
15U BWC: Brazil with Shutout over Hong Kong
Brazil celebrated their second shutout at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship in Parral, Mexico. On Saturday they one-hit Hong Kong 16-0 in five innings. Ten runs in the fourth blew the score wide open.
Women’s BWC: USA overpowers Canada in Semis
USA dismantled Canada 17-4 in the second semi-final at the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup to join Japan in the Gold Medal Game on Sunday. This sets up a meeting of two-time title holders in the final. It starts at 5pm local time and will be streamed live on YouTube.
Women’s BWC: Venezuela with Comeback Win over Cuba
Venezuela came back from a 0-5 deficit to down Cuba 9-6 at John Fry Park on Saturday afternoon. They now will face Chinese Taipei on Sunday in the game for fifth place at the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup. Cuba has to settle for the seventh place encounter against the Netherlands.
15U BWC: Venezuela cruises past Germany
Cuauhtémoc (Mexico) – One day after a shutout over the Ukraine, Venezuela also didn’t have any problems with the second European team in Group C. Playing in the afternoon in Cuauhtémoc they defeated Germany 16-0 in five innings. They scored in each of the first four frames, highlighted by an eight-run third. It was the third loss on the third day for Germany.
Japan vs. USA for Gold at Women’s Baseball World Cup
Edmonton (Canada). The semi-finals at the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup in Edmonton on Saturday lacked some drama, but delivered a matchup of two-time title holders. Defending champion Japan will meet with the United States in the Gold Medal Game on Sunday at 5pm local time. The game will be streamed live on YouTube. At 1pm Canada faces Australia in the Bronze Medal Game.
Women’s BWC: Netherlands upsets Cuba to finish 7th
The Netherlands stunned Cuba with a 10-8 win on Sunday morning at Telus Field in Edmonton to claim seventh place in the final standings of the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup. It is the first victory for the Dutch team internationally or any European team. They scored three runs on a double by Galieth Haaker in the top of the seventh inning to erase a one-run deficit en route to a dramatic victory.
15U BWC: Argentina scores early and often in Victory
Argentina celebrated its second win at the I IBAF 15U Baseball World Championship on Sunday morning, defeating Indonesia 9-2 at Parral Stadium. The South Americans will play another game in the evening, making up Saturday’s rainout against Cuba. Indonesia lost for the third time.
