Puerto Rico 2021 season will start on April de 13th

With 43 participating teams it will be the highest number in the last six years.

The representatives of Double A Puerto Rican Baseball announced that the 2021 season will start on April de 13th.

The tournament will feature the participation of 43 teams, the highest number of franchises in the last six years, among which the return of the Carolina Giants and the Peñuelas Petroleros stands out.

The Giants will have former player William De Gracia as their representativeand will officiate at the modern Roberto Clemente Walker stadium. The project has the support of the Autonomous Municipality of Carolina.

“It was a successful meeting, with a good call from the representatives. I understand that important issues were discussed, now it is necessary to have the authorization of the government to have the presence of the fans in the stadiums”, explained Dr. José Daniel Quiles Rosas, president of the Federation.

It was determined that in the regular phase of the season each team will play 12 games, a three-game semifinal, a five-game section final, a seven-game Champions Carnival, a five-game national semifinal and a seven-game national final.

It was also decided by a 34-6 vote that the regular phase will be played in a Sunday double-game format and starting from the semifinal phase the games will be held on Fridays and Sundays.

Four teams will have new representatives in the upcoming season. Dr. Jeovhanni Nieves will be in charge of the Juncos Mulos, replacing engineer Carlos Príncipe, who will remain as vice president of the Baseball Federation.

In Utuado, Juan Hernández replaced Rafael Juarbe and in Sabana Grande, Ricardo López Almodovar entered for Edwin Martínez. While the Guaynabo Mets presented Héctor Reyes instead of José Mateo, who was appointed director of the Department of Recreation and Sports of the Municipality of San Juan.
