WBC: Cuba wins clash over Japan
Fukuoka. Cuba has won the prestigious match against Japan on Wednesday. The record world champion defeated the two-time World Baseball Classic winner 6-3 to conclude the first round in Fukuoka, Japan. Cuba finishes the first phase with a clean 3-0 record in first place, while Japan joins them in round two with two wins in three games.
WBC First Round in San Juan and Phoenix gets started

Fukuoka. China is going to finish in third place in the first-round Pool A. They stunned Brazil with a late rally to prevail 5-2 in a duel of winless teams at the Yahoo! Dome in Fukuoka on Tuesday afternoon. Both teams will miss the second round, as Japan and Cuba advance from Pool A.
Chinese Taipei, Netherlands advance to Tokyo Dome at WBC
Fukuoka/Taichung. Chinese Tapei and IBAF 2011 Baseball World Cup winner the Netherlands are joining Cuba and Japan in the second round of the 2013 World Baseball Classic at the Tokyo Dome (March 8 to 12) in Tokyo, Japan. The Dutch team beat Australia in the afternoon game at Intercontinental Stadium in Taichung on Tuesday to finish the first round in second place. Chinese Taipei lost to Korea, but still was ranked first in Pool B due to the tiebreaker. In Pool A China celebrated a late comeback to get its first win in the tournament.

Fukuoka. Record Baseball World Champion Cuba has a winning start into the 2013 World Baseball Classic. The team of manager Victor Mesa beat Brazil 5-2 on Sunday afternoon to earn the victory in their tournament opener at the Yahoo! Dome in Fukuoka, Japan. For Brazil it was the second loss in as many games after another strong performance in Pool A of the first round.
