Two runs apiece in the second, fourth and sixth lifted the Asians to their first victory in the tournament. They had lost to Canada on opening day. Cuba lost for the second time in as many days.

The team from Down Under overcame 0-3 and 3-4 deficits to beat the Caribbean squad. Christina Kreppold (4-5, 4 RBI) led Australia on offense. Kim McMillan dominated in a four-inning relief appearance.

Host Canada had a perfect start into the V Women’s Baseball World Cup, dispatching Chinese Taipei 12-2 on Friday evening. The Maple Leafs countered an early lead of the Asians with five runs in the first two frames and put the game in the books with seven combined runs in the fourth and fifth. Meagan Cornelssen drove in three, Nicole Luchanski scored three times.

The United States opened the V IBAF Women’s Baseball World Cup at Telus Field in Edmonton, Canada on Friday morning with a 10-0 shutout over the Netherlands. The American squad won in five innings, led by pitchers Kristin Caldwell and Kayla Bufardeci, who hold their counterparts to just one hit in the game. The US offense scored in each of the five innings to provide plenty run support.

Cuba wins 26th Haarlem Baseball Week
Cuba has won the 26th edition of the “Haarlemse Honkbalweek”. They won the title at the international tournament with a 4-2 victory over Puerto Rico in the championship game on Sunday. Team USA (Collegiate) finished in third place after a 4-3 win over IBAF Baseball World Champion Netherlands in the Bronze Medal Game at Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem, Netherlands.
Cuba to play CPBL Team in Exhibition Series in November
The International Baseball Federation (IBAF) announced that Team Cuba is coming to Chinese Taipei to take on the squad assembled by players of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) this coming November. This historical visit will mark Cuba’s first time to come to Chinese Taipei for games other than international tournaments, and this will also be the first time for CPBL to play Cuba’s national team.
